The early years (1995-2002)

In 1995, Christians from Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa visited the Impact Church of Christ in Houston, TX, a congregation established to meet the needs of Houston's downtown residents. Returning to Tulsa, those Christians asked why they couldn't do the same thing here in Tulsa? That question led to a Bible study with families in subsidized housing and the beginning of what would become Contact.

Three years later, Tulsa Neighborhood Networks, Inc. was founded as a non-profit to assist in the work begun with a Bible study, recognizing that the Gospel and assisting in some financial needs went hand in hand. Frank Lott came on board to lead the program, and the first Christmas store was held in December of 1998, allowing families access to Christmas presents for their children at significantly reduced prices.

By 2000, the Bible studies blossomed, Ron Babbit joined the team and brought along committed Christians from the Jenks Church of Christ, and the need for a facility allowing for the unique situations of worship and life became apparent. In 2001, Park Plaza purchased the former 49th & Tacoma Church of Christ building and land, which would become the site of a new congregation.

Contact church of Christ & TNN (2002-2017)

On Easter Sunday, March 31, 2002, Contact Church of Christ met for the first time at the new building. A handful of adults (and a couple of dogs) gathered in a classroom to pray, sing, and share the good news of Jesus.
